W530 Win 10 issue with Quadro K200M drivers

2016-08-06, 0:53 AM

I upgraded my W530 to Win 10. I cannot get the drivers to work for my Nvidia Quadro K200M. I've downloaded them from Nvidia, multiple versions in fact. I've even allowed Lenovo to try to update the drivers.

HELP .. Device Manager is giving me a Code 43 error for the distinct graphics card.

I've used these versions:

368.39-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql

353.62-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql

Same issues.

Thanks in advance!

Betreff: W530 Win 10 issue with Quadro K200M drivers

Optimus drivers are often causing troubles, accross all manufactures. Graphics drivers are deeply system integrated. Integration of two different drivers into one auto-switching solution is often fragile. Especially because of the poor driver quality Intel is delivering.

I think you should de-install all graphics drivers, both Nvidia and Intel. I suppose there's a tool from Nvidia for that. From my experience Intel drivers usually don't need any additional cleaning steps.

Afterwards use the original Optimus package from Lenovo. Because Optimus implementations vary a lot (and Lenovo did it very basic), original manufacturer drivers are often the safest way to go.

I did a clean install on my W530/KM2000 using the orginial Lenovo Optimus driver package. Everything is working fine now. Windows 10 1511 was sufferiung from severe crashes when using fullscreen video. Since Win 10 1607 this issue is solved. Optimus is running stable at the moment, even when using additional USB graphics adapters.

My laptop is 4 years old. You mean the original drivers that came on the recovery disk? I'm having issues with the mini display port and the VGA port.

I've downloaded the latest ones from Lenovo, I've also downloaded the ones from Nvidia -- none have worked yet.

I'll try again by removing all video drivers including the Intel ones.

Without completly removing the old drivers you woun't get a working system. Like I wrote: Optimus is a fragile solution.

There is no such thing as fragile, and Optimus is not switchable graphics at all:

I'm not sure what you wanna tell us with linking to this four year old thread. Maybe you can call Optimus "dual graphics solution" - I don't care about terminology.

Reading through several forums, there are lots of manufacturer independent issues with Optimus. The mix of two different graphics adapters from different manufacturers is always tricky.

So, could you explain what you mean with "there is no such thing as fragile"? Obviously I'm not a native speaker, maybe your remark is related to a linguistic error of mine?

What I mean is that the video drivers themselves for the nvidia video and the intel video are independently upgradeable from the optimus technology.

The steering software is as you say more fragile.

And the linked article and the cited whitepaper (did you read the nvidia whitepaper) are still current.   There is nothing that has changed in 4 years.
