Re: W530 fan noise intolerable

2012-11-24, 2:27 AM

I was going to purchase W530 today, but the noise issue makes me wonder whether it is better to wait or buy something else (i.e. dell precision).

Will this ever be fixed?  It would be great to hear back from Lenovo.

Lenovo really seems not to care about the noise problem - no BIOS update with a lower, nearly unhearable fan level (like known from older Thinkpads), even today some monthsd later after many users complained about this.

I'm really glad that I assumed from the beginning that Lenovo will ignore the problem and sent my T530 (T530 and "530 have the same, loud lowest fan level) back to them.

I agree.

Hear us Lenovo!

Otherwise what's the point of this forum?!

At least have a reply from the Mod.

Haven't seen Nine for months, where is he/she?

C'mon people, we should really give some attitude to Lenovo, so at least we can get a reply, which is better than no reply at all. Sometimes a great attitude is enough to sooth the frustration of not being able to solve the problem to a customer.

Totally agree! Why lenovo does not give us any reply after three months?! Looks like the Lenovo does not think it is a problem and they are so arrogant.

Re: W530 fan noise intolerable

Because of many reports like in this thread I did not buy a new laptop for a while. Now finally I purchased a W520 because I need a machine which supports Hyper-V and SLAT for Windows Phone 8 development. And for me there is still no alternative to Thinkpads

I am very lucky with the W520 NY44YGE 16GB Memory and SSD. During normal office usage, development and watching movies is very silent.

Here is my output from TPCF:

1: 1962
2: 2532
3: 2722
4: 3037
5: 3352
6: 3868
7: 3864

Professional DELLs don't support Hyper-V and SLAT ?

I read on notebookcheck that they add a very good fan management (and a good overall score)

I have been watching this topic every week but there has been not answer yet. Quite disappointing! Some admin from this forum said the issue had been reported to the tech team of Lenovo but are they working on it?

I would have thought a BIOS would have been issued by now that offers a lower fan speed (~1900rpm) so users could govern the behavior with TPFanControl.,

Engineering changes do take time, but this issue was reported 4 months ago.  That seems like sufficient time to adjust the fan settings table.
