Re: W540 Sleep Mode causes computer to freeze since day one!!

regarding supposed hotfix - you are right thats windows 7 and also an old one...

i deleted all apps just left over maps and store (which you cannot delete, otherwise i would have)

also deleted email (have outloook + lotus notes), "explorer" i am not sure if its something different, i do have "internet explorer" installed, deleted calendar, people (thats all in outlook), skydrive - there is also some schedule settings when you install office 2013 which i deactivated trying to sync your documents - for skype i installed the full version and deleted the "embedded". and - finally - i do not log in using microsoft account but a "normal" user. this destroyed my complete setup once when converting my system for it. i did that since i wanted to use the lenovo app which claimed to be replacement for the access connections, but that was not working at all.

Hi,

i have the same issue, has someone managed to find a fix for it?
@johnv474 : i use sleep function when I have several things that I am working on and don't like to save/reopen all of them after reboot.

Offtopic: i've made an upgrade from W530 to W540, but i miss some of the features of W530. No led indicators for battery, power or sleep. No colored usb ports ( blue and yellow). Unable to use fingerprint for boot up my system. No msata slot.
I have managed to install power manager and use the battery threshold option.

I've found the solution here:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/W540-won-t-wake-up/td-p/1709441
It also manged to fix my issue with "unavailable brightness".

My w540 would freeze after a restart or sleep. This is the fix if you have a fingerprint scanner....

boot into Safe Mode and rename the "Fingerprint Manager Pro" folder inside "C:\Program Files\Lenovo". Then reboot into Windows.
