WUXGA on 15.4" laptop.

2008-10-15, 6:36 AM

I like W500, but I am struggling if I shall go for 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 screen resolution.

As a programmer, I like to see more content on the screen, but I am afraid that fonts on 1920x1200 is just too small to look at.

can any W500 owner share your experience with 1920x1200. or any fulll size screen shots so that I can have a look?

thanks in advance.

if you stare at 1920x1200 all day on a 15.4 inch screen, it is probably not going to be too healthy for your eyes. For your own sake you should go with WSXGA + ....

No one i know whom have 1920 x 1200 15.4 inch screen says that using the screen all day doesn't strain your eyes....

Thanks for the message, sounds 1680x1050 is a better choice.

I went with the WUXGA and output to a 24 inch flat screen anyways. I don't use the notebook undock for more then a couple hours so it isn't a problem for me looking at the display.

I have tried both and ended up going with the 1920x1200 but somewhat regret it- its awesome when you are sitting upright at a desk doing work but it is not as good for casual surfing where your eyes are a little farther from the screen- DPI scalling is a solution but its not perfect.  In addition i think the 1680x1050 is a little brighter in person.   It really comes down to how good your eyes are and how you plan to use the computer.

This helped me too

I just placed an order with W500, yeah, I chose 1680x1050 since I surf internet a lot, and 1680x1050 isn't bad for programming IDE etc.

thanks for all the responses.

by the way, how long do you receive the order? the order confirmation told me it will take 3-4 weeks...
