Warranty Extension

2021-01-11, 14:34 PM

Hi,

I have purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad P53 last year and the warranty expired just yesterday.

I thought that the company is sending a notification email when the expiration date is close but unfortunately it did not.

Now that I am trying to renew it I am getting the below:

Tips: Your warranty has expired or you have an entitlement that cannot be extended or upgraded at this time. There are no available service offerings for this product.

Is there something that can be done about it? It is really unfair to miss the opportunity to renew such an expensive equipment for just a day without even a notification email for the extension of the warranty.

Thanks in advance,

Nikolas

Welcome to the Community

Sorry to tell you, you can't renew the warranty once it's expired. I don't know about any email system to remind you, though Lenovo Vantage should show days remaining as does this site if you plug your serial number after clicking the Support tab at the top. I usually buy the full 3 years with damage protection as soon as I get the computer. I generally do that with all my expensive electronics.

Are there any post-warranty options available? It is a really expensive machine and I lost the the date just by a few hours, it's unfair not to be able to renew it at all. Thanks

I really haven't looked into it. Maybe Square Trade or someone does that. I know if it's a car, it's possible. I probably get 3 or 4 spam calls and emails per week from outfits offering to "extend" the warranty on a 14-year-old car I have. :D

If you find someone, could you post so the rest of the community knows? This does come up from time to time.

I'd suggest you call Sales in your geo-location and discuss this. They may (or may not) have options that aren't available online.

Nothing to lose by trying...

Regards.
