Re: When is Haswell coming to town (W540)?

There is no such thing as a 3K resolution.

2880x1620 has no short name or "Graphics Array" designation. It is simply 2880x1620. At best you could say "16:9 1620p", but I don't think anyone's going to bother doing the math to figure the 2880 part out.

@SirStranger,

Lenovo calls 2880x1620 "FHD++".

Here they call it "essentially QWXGA+."

Does anyone know if the "Windows 8 scaling fails on high-PPI displays" issue has been resolved now?

Supposedly Windows 8.1 solves that problem and works on screens of up to 4K. Whether or not it will be backported is yet to be seen, but I think MS is going to try to pull everyone towards 8.1

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here.

Numpad, offset touchpad, 15" model, just no on so many levels.

Go do the whole W7XX series again if you want to add numpads.

Why do the tech specs say 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-4930MX (Up to 3.0GHz, 8MB L3, 1600MHz FSB) but intel says 3.9GHz?

"The Lenovo press release says 3K IPS panel with 2880x1620 resolution. 3000:1 contrast?"
Likely dynamic (unreal) figure. If IPS, it's under 900:1. Otherwise it's xVA panel, which contradicts the IPS thesis. Mitch
