Windows 10 update (last month Version 1903 and now Version 20H2)

2020-11-26, 13:41 PM

Hello ppl

In the first stage I can not install Windows 10 Professional x64 2019.09 cumulative update (KB4515384) on my Lenovo ThinkPad P53 laptop. I received blue screen and after recovery process windows update console show me error message "Error 0x800f081f".

Few days ago, Windows update tried to install Windows 10 update to Version 20H2. Also, I had blue screen, and after recovery process I saw "0x800f0845" error code in Windows Update console.

I'm unable to block automatic update because the selection box is inactive.

Microsoft support team opened case for this problem few days ago, but they tell me that is a conflict between updated version of Windows and Lenovo drivers (some drivers - last drivers on Lenovo support site - are older than 1803 Windows version) and I have to wait for the manufacturer to update those drivers for my laptop. All Lenovo & Intel drivers are updated in my laptop.

The support "given" by the Lenovo Romania representative is very low ... apart from unscrewing a few screws they said that they do not have the necessary knowledge to solve client's problems ... the certification should be withdrawn for lack of professionalism and poor quality of representation of Lenovo image in RO...

Could you help me please with some advice to overcome this problem with Windows update?

Thank you!

Update to 20H2 was installed after (KB4592438) installation, but only with virtualization disabled in BIOS (Kernel DMA Protection disabled, Intel Virtualization Technology disabled, Intel VT-d Feature disabled, Enhanced Windows Biometric Security enabled under Security menu in BIOS). With virtualization enabled blue screen error is maintaining.

You need to DISABLE "Enhanced Windows Biometric Security" to eliminate the BSOD.

See this MS article.

When do you get this error exactly, when Windows restarts after the upgrade?

And by any chance to you have Hyper-V installed?

I get that error after recent updates to 20H2 and interim Microsoft updates and with Hyper-V  feature

installed and enabled on P15v.  Also Virtualization turned on in the BIOS.  If I turn it off in the BIOS, it boots

OK, but of course Hyper-V does not work.

Hello and thanks for your reply.

The error occurs after the system is restored after the failed installation of the update, at startup. Hyper-V is installed and virtualization is also enabled in the BIOS.

I will try to disable them to see if I can do the update. I will come back with the result.

But it is not a solution for long term because I need a functional Hyper-V.

Any other solutions?

What computer do you have exactly? Mine is new Lenovo P15v. Also was Hyper-V removed as a feature in Windows and ALSO disabled the Virtualization settings in the BIOS? Both of those?

Lenovo ThinkPad P53

Hyper-V removed in Windows feature and disabled Virtualization options (BIOS - Security - Virtualization - Kernel DMA Protection disabled, Intel Virtualization Technology disabled, Intel VT-d Feature disabled, Enhanced Windows Biometric Security enabled)

Dear customer,

in the MS link you indicated, solution is added to "Next Step" section as of Dec 12.    Could you try and confirm your problem is solved by it ?

The problem was solved... partially...

I'm waiting for a solution for this problem.
