Windows XP Pro can't find graphics Driver

2008-10-01, 18:13 PM

All the sudden Windows XP cannot find the graphics driver after a reboot.  when I go to download and reinstall the driver the installation program tells me the driver is not compatible with existing hardware.  The only way to get things working again is to do a system restore.

Its happened 3 times already in 2 weeks.  Anyone have an idea as to why windows looses the driver and why I cannot reinstall it?

Thanks!

Paul

It is probably happening because as you boot the Intel chipset is running and then the ATI card gets turned on as windows loads...Try going into your BIOS menu and setting display to discrete (turn off switchable since XP doesnt support it anyways), set boot on pci express instead of integrated, and trun off OS detection....

Let us know if that works :smileyhappy:
