battery life

2008-09-24, 22:56 PM

If i mostly work at home plugged into the outlet, does this constant charge on the battery wear it down?  In other words, will I extend the life of my battery by leaving it disconnected most of the time?  If so, is it better to leave it with a full charge or a depleted charge?

Matt

Hello Matt,

Thinkpads have very good energy management. Please load you battery first 36h, then unload,

then load 24h, then your battery is calibrated and has got it´s full power.

I would suggest to switch charging control in powermanager to automatic and let your

battery in your TP and just lean back and relay.

Then your are on the safe side and won´t loss data, if electricity goes down.

I´m in the same situation, with TP sitting on desk, with outlet plugged-in.

My battery has got 83 cylcles and is 1,5 years old and it´s capacity is more as designed, yet.

Kind regards

Andreas

What do you mean by "load" you battery for 36hours then 24hours?, Do you mean leave it plugged in for those lengths of time even if the battery is fully charged?

Hello,

yes load it at first and initially for this amount of hours.

I always leave my battery in my TP and alsways power cord is connected.

Set the powermanager to automatic and lean back.

The powermanager will take care of your battery.

Without battery, the TP won´t get to max cpu power and you´ll have just the half power of your machine.

Regards

Andreas
