Re: can i configure backlit keyboard on a P51 to be always on

Hi Smurf,

this is easy. What you need to do is to create a .txt-file (google how to create .bat, name is as you like, e.g. killtposd.bat) which killst the tposd.exe while started.

.bat content is:

@ECHO OFF
TASKKILL /IM tposd.exe

save it somewhere and place a shortcut in Windows Startup:

(WIN + R: shell:startup)

Voilá.

Procedure is also descibed in the comments section of my last updated script, vide supra.

Thanks Ruffy,

Unfortunally that didn't work.  It appears that Lenovo did a BIOS update and added several items.  MY guess is that had something to do with it.  I have looked in the BIOS but didn't see any options that might cause it.  I'm lost.

Ruffy,

Thanks to my son I have solved my charm problem,  It may be of help to others who are not savey.  This link says it all (take note of the note after #3)  Worked great for me.  It's simply a setting that's available. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/jp/en/solutions/ht002122

Cheers

Guys, I took some of the ideas from ligius- here and created a Windows Service that ensures the backlight is on at boot and also re-enables it after system resumes from sleep if you want to give it a go.  Path's and brightness are currently hardcoded but I'll add the option to use a config file at some point.

Give it a go.  Hopefully it works for you all too.:smileyvery-happy:

Hello JooJooBee666,

I have downloaded LBCService to folder d:\backlight and run C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe -u "d:\backlight\LBCService.exe"

But it does not create LBCService.exe and gives me the error System.IO.FileNotFoundException:

Can you help ?

Yep, sorry about that. The install command in my README has a typo.  Do NOT use the -u option, that's the uninstall option. :smileyfrustrated: The command should be

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe "d:\backlight\LBCService.exe"

An exception occurred while initializing the installation:

Hmm, not real sure what's happenning then. :smileysad: Could be some weird issue  with your OS language setting or something.  It installs fine for me on 3 separate systems.  Do me a favor, check event viewer to see if there is a bit more details on the missing resource, open an issue on my github page and post the results.  I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

Hi Punch Card,

Keyboard_Core.dll is inlcuded in Lenovo Vantage App, which is available in the Microsoft Store.

On my system, win 10, it is located in

C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ImController\Plugins\ThinkKeyboardPlugin\x86\Keyboard_Core.dll

Good Luck!
