help! w510 sd card reader problem

2010-12-08, 13:55 PM

i'm using win7 64 bit system. the SD card reader doesn't work properly.

when i insert the 8GB SDHC card, somtimes it can be recognized, sometimes cannot, actually , it;s really random.

at first, i thought it's a hardware problem of the card reader itself, maybe poor contact...but later on i found, if i restart the system or just close the cover to make the windows sleep and open, the card will be recognized, so i think it should be of software problem i have updated the driver to the latest version, but it still keep happening......it's really weird...

does anyone have the same problem with me?

i really appreciate who will give me some solution.

I think it has something to do with the power saving setting in Lenovo's power manager.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the PCIe setting.  Try play with it and see what happen.  I don't know for sure

Hope Lenovo can fix this issue.  The card reader can read Transcend 16GB SD but not the Kingston 8GB and Patriot 8GB.

I've got the same problem on a T510. I'm also thinking it's got something to do with the power saving setting.I tried playing around with the link state power management settings and the USB  selective suspend settings in the Power Manager but it didn't help. Maybe a setting in the BIOS?
