new Power Manager for Vista x86/x64 "Added new feature of 'InstantResume'" won't install

2009-01-08, 17:28 PM

This Power Manager release that came out Jan 5 2009:

File details Version: 2.41a Release Date: 2009/01/05

Doesn't install on Vista x64, despite the readme saying it does support Vista x64:

You get this popup message as soon as you launch setup.exe

     Cannot run on this system

<clicking on OK button is all you can do>

Any ideas?  I also seems the wave Jan 5 2009 updates on the W700 support site:

don't yet show in the ThinkVantage "System Update" utility.

The similar set of new firmware released Jan 5 2009 for T61x laptops does show up when running System Update on a T61p, fyi.  So it's a W700 specific update issue, apparently.

 Hi tinkererguy

First you must update these  Drivers:

BIOS update

ThinkPad Power Management Driver

Hotkey Driver

Access Connections

If you have updated these Drivers, try this Windows key + R then type in services.msc then look for the

Power Manager Services and right click that services and pick Properties and then click the STOP BUTTON.

Then try to install the new driver.

and read the  Power Manager Deployment Guide

hope this helps you
