Re: w510 BSOD

2010-09-09, 9:23 AM

,,,, My Problem is back , after CLONING the Win7 64bit Enterprise image to another W510

The Gobi2000 Modem shows up and removes itself from the Device Manager ...

have tried all Variations to deinstall and install, with or without SIM Card (A1, Austria)

as I said, it was working for a time, but when I cloned it to another W510 ... we bought 30 of that crap, which is worthless since 40 days, as that **bleep** modem isn't working)

IT IS REALLY A JOKE from LENOVO and QUALLCOM that they didn't do anything against it !

I didn't even see they are intrested to solve it ... apart from that, the insertslot for the simcard is also a slot, most of the time it isn't working to hold the simcard proper !

So we are left with that ... I have to deliver that 30 Laptops to the employes ... not possible with that crazy modem (works, don't work ... dbut most of the time it didn't work)

WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL OF the W510 have problem with that GOBI2000 card ...

we have 30x 4389-W1B

since a few days, all our w510 are in use by our employes. i agree to FlashXAron, that the behavior of the UMTS cards are sometimes strange. until now, we had only one notebook where the WWAN card was never working. now, after all notebooks are in use, we have 2 additional notebooks with WWAN card related problems. sometime the card say's there is no SIM inside, sometime access connections hangs 1-2 minutes and there is no connection possible, until the machine is rebooted (sometimes we need 2 or 3 reboots or an poweroff/-on).

at the moment, we have troubles with 3 of 24 notebooks (but not all users using the WWAN). lenovo: i think it is time, to accept there are some troubles and solve them!

I'm sure there had to be a reason. If you study this video maybe you can figure out what the reason was.

have a hint.  i've recently traveled with my w510, and noticed that all this monkeying with card showing on and off disappered in a new location. haven't changed a thing, just location.  more interesting is that upon returning, the card is flip-flopping again.

The signal in my original location where the card is flip-flopping is rather weak, while in the new location is strong.  Can anhyone comment on experience having w510's gobi working/not worlking depending on the signal?

Signal is not an issue.  Same SIM card put into a USB modem have full strength and back into the W510 nothing but the same ole, same ole.

It's broke and no fix has yet to come from Lenovo.

i also think, signal doesn't matter. at work i have a signal, that is a 'little bit more than nothing', at home i have full strange and it is also not working. with another w510, i will get at both locations a connection (@work: poor gprs speed; @home: 6mbit).

I can confirm the issue. However, it doesn't depend on the signal strength but occurs when moving into another cell. I often traveled by train in the last months and can say that whenever it was working in the beginning, after a few minutes (read kilometers) at the latest crashing and loading always started all over again.

Maybe it isn't even about cells but about the signal strength changing (no matter whether it's regional or temporal).

Lets face it everyone, Lenovo has a problem and the more we post anecdotal evidence of it working at times the more they take it as it is an enduser problem.

This is absolutely abhorrent on the part of Lenovo. Their tech support, engineers and moderators are all useless.

No offense, Priaptor, but you're really spamming this thread. That makes it not only harder for everyone to scan through the posts but it also spams my inbox with senseless reply notifications.
