Re: w510 BSOD

I agree that muddying the water with anecdotal evidence of semi-working cards might be playing into the hands of Lenovo. On the other hand, I doubt Lenovo decides on whether to address a problem based on a few comments such as these. However, all these hints give us and hopefully Lenovo-associated people reading this forum some ideas as to what might be going wrong.

This is absolutely abhorrent on the part of Lenovo. Their tech support, engineers and moderators are all useless.

Since none of the moderators are Lenovo employees, I'm not sure why we're in that list.  You may think we're useless, but if I decide to take any action in this thread, you're not likely to be happy with the results.

Take it down a notch.

Didn't Mark ask if someone would be willing to send a known bad unit into the engineers in North Carolina for analysis?  That's helped them pin down problems in other threads both here in this thread and at TPF.  All the hints in the world aren't as helpful as actually having one that fails in their hands.

Ah, yes, I found it - it was actually Jamez following up for Mark:

The question remains if they don't already have one. I asked JameZ in this thread if there're any (positive or negative) updates…

That indeed would be helpful. I would send them mine if I had a comparable loaner. On the other hand, like codethief is saying, they must have some that don't work. If people post their system numbers (mine: 4318CTO, BIOS 6NET64WW (1.27)), it might give Lenovo engineers an idea which systems to try

Right, did everyone send JameZ the information he requested earlier? (including the serial no. if I recall correctly)

I don't think they do yet as they normally come back and let everyone know that they had a volunteer, and that hasn't happened.

You know what, I don't really give a hoot what you think.  How is that.

I am not spamming anything.  I am looking for a fix for this piece of crap that I shelled out close to 4K for and doesn't work as advertised.

Don't check the thread if you don't like what is posted.

Ok, my apologies.

Maybe you can tell me (us) what relationship, monetary or ortherwise, moderators have with Lenovo.

Since I have tried without success to get my 4K W510 working as adverstised, despite numerous phone calls to tech support (employees of Lenovo), can you please tell me the purpose of this site if not to report problems and fixes of those problems.

If you guys are not employees then why are you guys asking for serial numbers, build, accessories, etc. and asking for us to send our units back to Lenovo support.  I have sent mine back only to have it returned with the same problem.

In summary, please tell me (us) what is the role of a "moderator" and what is the relationship to Lenovo of moderators?

Thanks

There are different ranks in the boards; Admin, Lenovo Staff and Lenovo Employee - all of these members get their wages paid by Lenovo. They help out here as and when they can in the free time they have.

The "rank" is shown under the member name; e.g. I am a moderator, as is JaneL. JameZ is Lenovo Staff

Moderators are all, without exclusion, volunteers from different walks of life who are here to help and guide members; some play a greater roll in helping with technical issues, others more with forum mamagement.
