w530: VMWare 64 Bit Virtualization

2012-06-28, 18:17 PM

Hi,

I am trying to run a 64 virtual machine on my brand new w530 device but I get this error:

"This host is VT-capable, but VT is disabled."

VT is enabled in BIOS and the securable tool also tells me that it is enabled. Is there any other option to set which I might have missed?

Regards,

I had VT-x problems with VirtualBox (on my Win7 64bit).

In the BIOS I finally found the VT-settings. They were located under "Security | Virtualization", not under "CPU" settings.

After I enabled Virtualization (VT-x) (I also enabled VT-d even though VirtualBox don't really support it yet) VirtualBox worked fine - I can now run 64bit operating systems as virtual machines on my W530.

If VT-x is still not working for you, you should look for and terminate other applications that use VT-x, since only one application can use the hardware virtualization at a time.

Hello and welcome,

Was VT already enabled in BIOS, or did you enable it yourself?

With some (maybe all..) machines, VT won't be correctly recognized until after a cold reboot.  Power fully off, then boot.

Maybe...

Hi

I have the same problem, and cannot run any 64bit virtual machine on my W530 and WMWare Workstation 9.0.

I did also the Processor check with the CheckTool from WMware and it passed the test for 64bit support.

Not sure where to turn ON VT support. Going into the BIOS I have a setting VT100+ enabled and I did the reboot, but no luck. Can anyobody point me into the right direction and tell me what settings I have to turn ON or OFF?

Thanks for the support!!

Cheers

I got it working last year but I cannot remember what I have changed. I think that some flag in the bios was wrong.

Betreff: w530: VMWare 64 Bit Virtualization

2013-01-29, 17:32 PM

Hi,

you can't run HyperView (eneble it in Bios and System Settings) parallel

with VMWare (Workstation ore PLayers). under windows 8.

In every Case you have chanche the Bios settings and SystemSttings to run one of it.
