Has anyone tried this setup for memory?
My P72 came with 2x16GB modules and I'm looking into upgrading it with more RAM and thought why not just go for the full Monty?
This should be relevant to P52 as I guess the machines share quite a bit of internal components and software, being of the same generation.

Both P52 and P72 machines are currently being sold on the sales site with 4X32GB so it is possible. I have seen reports of people having problems adding DIMMs that were not Lenovo-brended. The first startup after adding or changing memory can take a long time while the machine updates the configuration. People give up and turn it off when there is no problem. When I upgraded my P70 from 2X16 to 4X16, it took just over 2 minutes for the first boot. After that, it was quick, like normal. Turn it on and go get a cup of coffee. If you buy non-Lenovo RAM, always check the seller's return policy. 32GB DIMMs are expensive.

According to the 'birth certificate' and pictures the SoDIMMs installed are Samsungs.
I'm looking at these for the upgrade: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/32gb-1x32gb-samsung-ddr4-so-dimm-laptop-sff-memory-pc4-21300-2666-no...
My P50 that I'll be getting rid of has slower DDR4 so I won't be pinching half of the RAM.

"Our processors do not support more than 64GB of RAM."
That spec was published before the 32GB DIMMs existed

I just put the two Samsungs found in the link above and turned the P72 on. The screen was blank for about a minute, then it restarted and straight into Windows. 96GB!

Whenever you change RAM, the first time the machine boots takes longer, while the system dynamically configures the slots.
