30 bit colour support

Hello Lenovo,

I would like to know, if w530 support 30bit color on display port, and if yes upto which resolution. I am going to connect EIZO monitor (EIZO SX2762W-BK )

and would like to know if anybody has experience with this. I heard that some people had problems with resolution 2560x1440 + 30bit color depth.

Thank you

Martin

Re: 30 bit colour support

Total speculation but I think it's possible as the external ports are driven by the NVIDIA card, which isn't limited as the Intel card is.

2560x1440 at 30bpp at 60Hz may be hitting a bandwidth issue even for DisplayPort.

Re: 30 bit colour support

@Colonel - I've read that Displayport 1.2 can handle 17.6 Gbs, which I believe is supported by the W530.

Let's see:  2560 x 1440 x 30 x 60 ~= 6.6Gbs.   It appears to me that this configuration falls within the bandwith limitations of Displayport 1.2.  Feel free to enlighten me if I'm mistaken. I like to learn.

Re: 30 bit colour support

So it is. It also claimed to be able to send 2560x1600 at 30bpp at 120Hz, which exceeds what the OP references.

Again, still speculating as I don't own anything remotely similar to test with.

Re: 30 bit colour support

Neither do I, Colonel. I would love to get a big 30" 2560x1600 or three. It's not in the budget right now. Then I'd have to get a computer that could handle three... sigh.
