A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing...

2011-10-02, 5:52 AM

Error occurred when at select the driver to be installed page.

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: if Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

I have seen many threads and posts on this error when loading Windows 7, but haven't found very much promising results. I have tried many things and it still doesn't work.

I have the W500 laptop.

The Hard drive was replaced (and is wiped clean). It is a Western Digital  WD5000BEVT-00ZAT0

I'm trying to load Windows 7 Professional.

I have tried putting the DVD drive as the first boot on the BIOS.

I have seen some other solutions of BIOS configurations in which I can't see how to do in mine.

Any help or thoughts on the problem would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there,

Sorry to drop into this thread and no mean to hijack, as just joined and frustrated and haven't seen where to begin a thread.
I have a similar issue with my Lenovo G550, it's worked like a dream until today, I cannot watch DVD's or play CD's or even burn discs. Tried abit of surfing around and trying to aquire help from Lenovo Site.

My issue from the "Devices & Printers" reads "there is a problem with the driver for TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633B. Reinstalling the driver might fix this problem"
So I click on "Apply this fix" and gives me "Device Software Driver was not successfully installed" and that CD-ROM Driver failed.

Anyone please assist this novice, will be so appreciated.

Kind regards.
