Does anyone know if the Apple/LG Ultrafine 5K Display can be connected to the Thinkpad P70 via the Thunderbolt port so the display can run at full native 5K resolution at 60Hz?
It seems the display is designed for Apple devices so I guess we'd also need a Windows driver to access the settings of the LG Ultrafine 5K display.

Hello - I have a ThinkPad P50 and just received my LG UltraFine 5K, it's working perfectly with single 5K monitor. However I'm not sure if P70 supports double 5K monitor.

This is exciting news. Please share with us a little more info:
Thank you and best of luck -- I'm sure many of us are quite envious!

Max P70/P50 resolution with the quadro cards is 4K:
So, the 5K display will work but not at 5K.
LG has a 22" 4K display for about half the price of the 5K monitor:
Hopefully, P71/P51 will support 5K displays.

Supposedly, one could just drive the 5K screen at 42 Hz so that the pixel clock remains the same as 4K at 75 Hz, which is the maximum supported refresh rate for 4K with DP 1.2 as found in P50/P70.
EDIT: Something is wrong here. Latest Apple notebooks are also Skylake-based with DP 1.2, but they promise 5K at 60 Hz? Something is not right. I thought that specs would be no different with Thunderbolt 3?!

1. Regarding graphics adapter, the LG UltraFine 5K provides a thunderbolt 3 cable. It's NOT working with any other ports.
2. Internal Laptop Display Resolution is 3840 * 2160, can do both display, both internal and external.
3. I'm using Windows 10, and I don't think Windows 7 would support Thunderbolt 3 interface.
4. I'm using the official graphics card driver provided by Lenovo (http://support.lenovo.com/jp/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-p50... latest version provided by Nvidia doesn't work well with my HTC Vive.

Unfortunately none of the current ThinkPad work with UltraFine 4K.
The LG UltraFine 4K works on USB-C Alternate Mode instead of Thunderbolt 3. ThinkPad doesn't have such interface.

DP 1.2 supports up to 4K video. You need DP 1.3 or 1.4 (current standard) for 5K.
