Had my second system board and network/usb module replaced. Everything ran great, and life was good.
For about 90 seconds.
Then the rep who swapped the system board updated the bios to 1.19, and then proceeded to use the bios update utility to try to update the model number as well. Except the utlity didn't work, the input fields were not editable.
That's when the wheels fell off.
Now every time I boot, I get a BIOS error:
2200: Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid
2201: Machine UUID is invalid
The system will eventually boot, but this is very annoying and I'm concerned now that the Windows Genuine Advantage utiltiy, and god knows what else, is eventually going to barf on me.
I've tried downgrading the BIOS to 1.15 (earliest available) and other revs in between with 0 luck fixing this.
Ideas?

The problem required a software utility only available to field techs. The same guy came back with an external floppy, updated the numbers and it's now cleared.

what is the tool called and can it be downloaded for folks that the warranty is expired on their machines.

You will need to find a service partner in your area, they will be able to help you; the utility is only available to service partners. The license to use the utility forbids the re-distribution of it.
