BSOD when connecting HDMI - dump file content included

2018-10-23, 9:19 AM

Hello,

Get a BSOD when I connect laptop to TV via HDMI. After re-start, things work normally, No Issues.

I have Win-10 (1803), disabled Intel Graphics and using Discrete. All Lenovo Advantage updates applied.

Anyone else facing/faced this issue?

Got another BSOD while connecting HDMI... Could NVIDIA Video or Sound driver be the culprit?

What Nvidia version are  you using? I'm on 391.25 and have not faced such issue.

What TV are you connecting?

Have you tried a fresh HDMI cable..

Just realized that I should have mentioned that my unit is P50.

My video driver is 23.21.13.8908. This is the latest per Lenovo Advantage.

Used different HDMI cables, same issue.

Does not happen all the time, but happens most of the time.

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1edl33w.txt

391.25 for P50

I use HDMI port daily to different TV:s or projectors and no BSOD. M1000M, Hybrid Graphics.

I cannot find eany evidence that 389.08 was ever packaged by lenovo.

Under Device Manager - Display Adapters - NVIDIA M100M - Driver tab

I see version - 23.21.13.8908, date 2/27/2018.

Lenovo advantage shows last Nvidia driver installed as - 22.21.13.8229.

Ran Advantage several times but new Nvidia driver per your list:

23.21.13.9125 1.3.36.6 23.20.16.4973 N1EDL33W 01 2018/04/20
  22.21.13.8299 1.3.34.27 23.20.16.4877 N1EDL31W

The above do not show up on my Recommended List.

Weird!!!

Have had issues with BSOD when laptop restarts after hibernation and had to roll back drivers. I use Discrete Graphics.

I think your nvidia drivers are out of sync and that is why lenovo advantage is not showing the last update. This is not an ideal situation. I recommend to manually update the drivers asap.

You should never "roll back" nvidia device drivers, it is not supported. You must do a clean install of the earlier complete package.

But now, since your driver is corrupted, please download manually the 391.25 driver from Lenovo and perform a clean install.
