When trying to perform a Battery gauge Reset Step one hangs at 99% charge and I receive the error message that "I need to unplug my power supply and discharge my battery below the stop charging threshold and then restart the Battery Gauge Reset process". I have done that three times and still receive that error message. Since I can't get to 100% charge to go to step 2 I am unable to reset my battery gauge and I receive the above error message. I have tried the reset process three times to no avail. The log message says Failed, an unexpected error has occured.
I keep the power supply always plugged in.
My P51 is under warranty.

Welcome to the community forums! Just to verify, you are trying to perform a Battery gauge reset because the battery is not charging up to 100%? Is it stuck around 60%? If yes, it might be the conservation mode. Please see that feature on Lenovo Vantage app. See this article: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505081 for more information.
Overtime the battery life of batteries of computers lessen. That might be one of the reason why your laptop is not charging fully. You may contact support to request a replacement battery instead. Please use this link: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6 to get the contact details.

Thanks for responding.
My battery gauge resets to 99% not 60%. I have the start charging threshold set to 80% and to stop charging at 95%. Since I have my power supply always plugged in I seldom unplug it so it remains at 95%. I am assuming that since I haven't regularly exercised my P51's battery it has lost it's ability to fully charge up to 100%. So it appears that I will need to call Support for a new battery replacement. The battery was manufactured in August of 2017 and began it's first "use" in September of 2017. The battery's power status is still rated as "good" in the Lenovo Advantage Power Settings.
Any other thoughts?
