The major drawback with my current T400s was the lack of any digital audio output, no HDMI, no optical, no nothing? All we've got was the displayport, not able to passthrough any kind of audio streams!
Back then I was told that the new Intel chipset coming along with their clarksdale and arrandale CPUs (aka the xM55 / xM57 chipsets) would feature the possibility of 8-channel passthrough audio on the displayport?
So with a Displayport --> HDMI adapter you could finally get some audio passage! Hurray!
But I have yet to see anyone actually confirming this? Have anyone seen any statement or test on this?

Go look in the T510 discussion. It is confirmed to work with an HDMI adapter with nVidia graphics.

Yes, I tried it out on my new w510 and it works great. You have to do things in the right order. First connect the Displayport adapter and HDMI cable between your w510 and your TV. Then go to Windows7 Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> manage audio devices. Right-click your TV/monitor, which should appear in the list, and choose "Set as default device." The sound should pop out of your TV. Make sure you have the TV set to take its audio input from HDMI.

Hi all,
I do have a W510 since a few weeks and it works.
I use a very cheap DP to HDMI Cable (3m) and sound
(stereo AND surround) is included via displayport.
I can confirm 5.1 yet.
The options for this are available if you connect a divice
via displayport that supports audio, it´s integrated into
the NVIDIA control - very nice !

I did all the things described, but my TV does not appear in the audio list. Does anyone know why this is or what I can do to fix that?
