Failed BIOS update

2009-10-09, 11:26 AM

I downloaded the latest BIOS update (version 3.09-1.03 released 2009/10/6) and burned it to a CD as an ISO since I'm running an x64 system. Rebooted and the BIOS utility started up. It beeped two times in the middle of the update, which I knew was a bad sign, but then displayed a message saying it had finished anyway.

A window showed up saying to go ahead and remove the CD and reboot, which it won't do now.

All I get now when I try to turn it on is the AC plug light and circled Z light. Hd spins for like 1 second, screen doesn't come on at all.

Guess I have to send it in, right? Hate that it's messed up for now though since I can't send it in for another 2 months or so and I really needed it right now.

Maybe you need to load default configuration, as instructed in the readme file, shown below:

INITIALIZING BIOS

BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS
  settings:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer.
  3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button"
message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.
The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears,
     type the correct password.
  4. Press the F9 key to load default configuration.
  5. Select Yes.
  6. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. Restart the computer.

  Note:
After initialization you may need to reapply some settings that you had
  changed previously.

Yeah that window appeared. Then I removed the CD and attempted to reboot, however it failed to boot after that.

Took out the CD and then waited for it for at least a few minutes. Nothing happened so then I went with the power button.

After that it just wouldn't boot.

Did you use the CD or the regular installation for 32 bit Vista?
