Been looking at a Lenovo laptop (W530) that is one of those ones that has Win 7 Pro 64bit installed when you get it, but has Win 8 license embedded I guess on the mobo so it's ready to upgrade to 8 which I'm not interested in doing.
My question is this... how do I obtain the license keys for the copy of Win 7 that is running on the laptop?
I want to do a fresh install to eliminate the bloatware without having to go out and buy an OEM copy of Win 7.
Is it possible to find out what the Win 7 license keys are? Surely they can be found somewhere on the system.
Any ideas / directions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated...

Not there... right when Win 8 started coming out, Lenovo and other manufacturers started selling PCs with Win 7 preloaded and the keys for Win 8 in the bios with no COA and it is authorized by Bill.
I'm just trying to see if I do a fresh install if Win 7 will activate using the keys that are in the Win 7 that I can extract before wiping the drive and doing the fresh install.
Nobody seems to know, so I guess I just need to try it and see.

I wouldn't think seeing what the key is on the system is a "grey area" since Win 7 came on the laptop and the key can be used for 1 copy of Win 7.... I just want to re-install it kinda like I'd have to do if say the hard drive failed.
There should not be any legal implications from this since... by buying the laptop I have paid for a license to run 1 copy of Win 7
I'll have our attorneys verify before I try

Actually... I have the Key that was in the OE Windows 7 installation.... and I went ahead and installed the new hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows...
And, now it will not activate.
So, it looks like I'm going to have to buy an OE copy of Windows so it will activate.

Thanks, but I don't have time for that now... this one belongs to someone and I'll need to get it to them in a couple of days... I've already got it all installed now and am installing programs and getting it ready.
Had I known this before, I could have factored in time to wait on Lenovo to deliver the install CDs.
I used to be able to use any OE install disc and put in the key and it would activate since the key was already paid for. Obviously this doesn't work anymore. I guess MS has to increase their sales somehow.
