GOBI 2000 (78Y1399) and GPS

2011-03-27, 3:02 AM

I am wondering if the ThinkPad GOBI 2000 Broadband Option (78Y1399) contains GPS, and if not, what is the module for the W510 that contains GPS hardware. Thanks !

Hello mate,

The Gobi 2000 have a GPS. You just need to have a sim card inserted to use it.

Hi

I travel around the world quite a lot, and I am thinking of getting this Gobi 2000 (78Y1399) for my W510.  Can this P/N(78Y1399) support different mobile carrier service providers or it can only be used with a particular one?  Thanks for any answer.

To the best of my knowledge the card with this marketing number is unlocked for use on any supported GSM network. There is another card with a common FRU which is specific to AT&T.

Yes, this card 78Y1399 is unlocked. The card 78Y1398 is locked on AT&T.
