Can you please give me more details about the CPU utilization problem?
Please open Task Manager, Details tab, and sort by CPU. Then right-click on the CPU column, select columns, and add the column for "Command Line". Please tell me the command line for the PluginHost process that is causing the problem.
In the mean time, what would happen if I just DISABLED the SIF Device instead of uninstalling it, and then enabled it when when I needed to use the functionality of Lenovo Vantage?
I think you would need to disable the SIF service (System Interface Foundation Service) in Services.msc instead. Disabling the device in Device Manager won't really do anything.

I haven't heard of this particular plugin causing a problem like this. How much CPU is it using? Can you post a screenshot of task manager showing it? Thanks!

I have an X1 Yoga 2nd Gen showing this problem. After sitting idle for a while, it starts with the fan running and the process uses 30+% CPU for hours or days, until I log in at the computer. While I'm logged in at the computer everything is fine, but when I leave it idle, it starts up again. To get this screen shot I had to sneak up on it via Remote Desktop.
The machine is all up to date per Windows update and Lenovo Vantage. It is kept up to date, used most days, and has been like this for some weeks.
Let me know what else you need.

Could you please provide the same details I asked for in message #21 of this thread?
The reason I need this is because Lenovo.Modern.ImController.PluginHost.exe could refer to many different things. The "command line" parameter will tell us exactly the plugin DLL and version that is misbehaving. Then my colleague hzfdbd will help me investigate these problems. I will be away for several days so you probably won't hear anything else from me until at least June 29th. Thanks for helping us chase this!

Here's the command line:
-name 0a3fc074-3989-43dd-9c6a-3c4b29369014 -runas -pluginName GenericDisplayPlugin -pluginVersion 220.127.116.11

I have the same issue like bananaman and t0mash...
from about 1 month ago I have this problem... this is my command line:
-name ec16b8b0-3552-4553-8f41-ba4fea7080d8 -runas -pluginName GenericDisplayPlugin -pluginVersion 18.104.22.168
please check if there is a miner inside it or not... its behaviour is like a very smart miner...

I am not sure WHY/HOW but my machine is acting normally now, so I can not capture the data...
The "dynamic brightness" setting on my machine (as mentioned as a cause in another post) was not turned on,
but I turned mine on and then back off again. At that point the problem was still present, but I had not rebooted,
so maybe just toggling that setting off-->on-->off and rebooting fixed it ... or ... I don't know.
My version of Lenovo Vantage is unchanged at: 22.214.171.124
My SIF V2 driver is dated 5/15/18 V 126.96.36.199
(which I think is unchanged, but I do not know that for sure as I was not tracking that version number)
I'll be watching this thread, and if my issue re-appears I will post the details you requested.
THANK YOU for your help!
