Inaccurate lenovo System Update Information

A) Why is it that in

http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-p...

followed by entering my P50's serial number

I see updates available as optional, for example https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1dww14w.txt (I am running Windows x64 Creators Update/1703)

but in the update app (both metro and 32 bit standard app) the same patch is not listed under optional or anywhere else?

B) Why don't some recommended updates EVER show up in (any of the) the apps? I just discovered today that https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1msk14w.txt is a recommended update. I've used the update app several times since March 30th, but I am still running 1.82.00.07 when I should be running 1.82.0.14 or later.

C) Is there a delay in making the updates available thru the apps vs when they become available via the site?

Please advise. I'd like to have to follow only 1 update information source, preferably the standard windows (non metro) app, since I can't hide updates in the metro app.

Re: Inaccurate lenovo System Update Information

The updates go to the support webpage first.  They are then sent to the Lenovo System update team to build system update catalog entries.  The update team must run quality assurance.  From support page to SU catalog is 30 days+.

ThinkVantage System Update, Update Retriever and Lenovo Companion app all use the same SU catalog.

If you provide your Model of machine, I will locate your SU catalog. I assume 20ENxxx.

https://download.lenovo.com/catalog//20EN_Win10.xml

I do not find Lenovo Active Protection in your catalog.

The Intel 8620 Bluetooth driver is there, n1dww13w 19.0.1621.3340 .

Your support page is                                    n1dww14w 19.30.1648.920 .

Re: Inaccurate lenovo System Update Information

The correct link to the downloads (as you know, but for reference of others) is

http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-p...

search for "active" and https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1msk14w.txt comes up.

i have a daily alert (https://blogtrottr.com/) set to the RSS of the downloads page:

http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/rss?ProductSelections=LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS_THINKPAD-P-SERIES-LAPTO...

this is how I get my updates. pretty clumsy, but easier than visiting the page on a daily base. I need to keep my laptop updated because of business compliance issues.

Re: Inaccurate lenovo System Update Information

If you get too current,  you might get burned.

If it is not broke, dont fix it.
