Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard N5902 Problem

2013-01-20, 2:26 AM

I have a Lenovo W530 Windows 7 Professional and recently I purchased a Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard N5902 when I plug in the USB dongle it says the driver will not install, but I can see that the device is visible to my machine via the directory: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers . I think this may be a problem with my registry, but I do not really know. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?

Hi, Lorak1

Have you attempted to install the driver manually? You can find the driver here. Also, it may help to save the file to your computer and then install the driver in Safe Mode to give the driver the best chance of installing.

To boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart your computer
  • Begin tapping F8 at the splash screen
  • Continue tapping it until a menu appears
  • Select Safe Mode from the menu (Safe Mode with Networking if you require the Internet)
  • Hit Enter

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes

Adam

The link to driver you just posted is in fact a pdf file and not a driver. Also my system is 64 bit.

Hi again,

Terribly sorry about that mix up. I went on to Lenovo's site and was able to find several files pertaining to the keyboard. Unfortunately, it is not a linkable page. But if you navigate to support.lenovo.com, click on Drivers and Software, and type N5902 into the product selector, your keyboard will pop up at the bottom of the list. If you select it, you will find several files for the keyboard and your OS and architecture. The first one under Software installation/configuration is likely the driver you are looking for, the Mouse suite. Again, sorry for the mix up.

Best of luck,

Adam

Hi again,

For clarification purposes: What error are you getting when the device does not install? Also, some drivers cannot be installed in Safe Mode, but you may want to try booting the computer into Safe Mode with Networking, connecting your keyboard, and seeing if that possibly helps.

Best,
Adam

That driver did install, and when I restarted my machine unplugged and plugged back in the usb dongle the N5902 still did not work with my machine. I have tested the N5902 with my wife's Apple laptop running OS X and there it has no problem working.

Hi again,

If you plug in the USB dongle, and then go to Control Panel ► Keyboard and select the hardware tab, you should be able to see if the computer is recognizing the keyboard. You should also be able to do this in Device Manager. Also, have you tried different ports on the machine?

Best,

Adam

What's going on !!!

Windows 7 installation error sees Lenovo Multimedia Remote N5902A.

This is an unacceptable situation !!! The device has to be plugged in and working. I expect.
