Lenovo Recovery Discs and the Q partition for W520

I just did the Lenovo Recovery Disc procedure where it makes a total of 4 DVD discs

for Windows 7 recovery. The first disc it burns is not considered disc 1 for some reason.

I don't understand it; but, whatever.

Is it now safe for me to Delete the Q: partition and recover this space?

thanks.

Re: Lenovo Recovery Discs and the Q partition for W520

The first disc is the "boot" disc. Use it first when reimaging. After creating the recovery discs there is no reason to keep the extra partition. You won't be able to create another copy of the recovery media so do not lose the copy you have created.

According to vuevuevue2002, you can't make another copy.

So, why not erase it?

You can make more that one set if you know how.  But a previous poster had the right idea.  Test the set before you do anything.

Yeah, no harm in testing it.

If your HDD fails under warranty, they'll give you a recovery disc along with a new HDD .

You can also purchase one from them.

I wasn't advocating testing against a perfectly working drive. I would test against a second HDD or SSD. That's how I always test the disk set before it goes in the cabinet.

Re: Lenovo Recovery Discs and the Q partition for W520

So, these recovery discs could be used if say, I want to add an msata ssd for my OS and some other programs?

Then, you could free up the space on the original HDD? Just asking cause that may be something I might do.

Hi,

Yes, the recovery discs works fine when installing a msata.
