Lenovo Removing Support For Your System?

2017-12-19, 5:01 AM

The time came to break out my personal emergency Thinkpad and install drivers and get it up & running. I was going to look for the Driver-Install-Order (for Win7 Pro x64) but could no longer find them here. HELP?

Lenovo's site now acts as if the W500 and T500 do not exist.

The site also wanted to install something called "TVSU" (with no explanation as to what it is or does). Fine, but it does nothing.

When I went to manually look for older systems, the support site simply doesn't list them.

I could not even find System Update because I could not ID my system to the site!

My old messages here are gone but for system-created msgs regarding my "level" (Ctrl-Alt-Del). And once again, the forums have been changed and made less useful than they were the last two or three overhauls.

Can some Thinkpad W500 owner tell me what the heck is going on? Where are the dowloads and Utils? Where is System Update?

I sincerely hope a Lenovo rep will also explain why systems are not even listed, and serial and product #'s are not found. Why would my company (or any campus or company) ever buy another Lenovo if you make support vanish?

Your machine is EOL(End of Life)  Drivers were moved to the EOL site.  Also TVSU stands for Thinkvantage system update.  Below is the link to the drivers for EOL machine like my W510.

Thank you Green5178. It sure is sad that Lenovo neither directs people to the "EOL" pages, nor has Google index them, nor even have a link available. I was appalled when the old searches (both using Bing/Google and the forums) for "W500 driver install order" did not direct me to the pages I had used many times.  It's as if Lenovo wants to drive their old customer base away.

I agree.  I posted a while back a smiliar response.  Im ok with EOL.  I just think it could have been done more "cleanly".  instead of no results or nothing found in search on support site.  Its like these machines never existed.  Support should at least redirect you to the EOL site.  On the other hand im glad on a 8 year old machine(W510)  Lenovo patched my intel ME security vulnerability.

No sure what you mean?  Its the same link I posted above.  It shows W500 on the pull down.

It's not really usable though. All the W500 KBD files are missing. And the the TVSU demands a .NET upgrade in order for TVSU to do it's demanded self-update, which needs SWIX64 ("System Detector" in driver form tvsuhd64.sys) but that fails to install because Lenovo didn't sign it.

The Intel Matrix driver screws up Windows7's Troubleshooter and the UAC goes crazy, demending an OK for every last little thing.
