Hi All,

 

After a long time for waiting, now I very happy when both touchpad and trackpoint are working again.

 

Here some note for who're still have this problem:

 

1. Don't update your version windows to more over > v1809. If you did it , please reinstall your windows or downgrade your version windows 10 .  

  • How to check your version Windows :  Press WINDOWS icon + S > enter About Your PC on Search Box > You will see your version windows.
  • As for me, i'm was go to the Microsoft site to download the Window's 10 ISO version 1709 file. You can download it from link : Win10_1709_English_x64.iso
  • Install new windows 10 with this version. After install Windows & Drivers, connect laptop to internet for automatic active Windows 10. Your Licence Windows 10 are still on your mainboard.
  • Disable Windows Update on Windows Services.

2. Install P52's drivers

  • After install windows finished, you need to install all P52's drivers. Don't intsall any version firmwares. 
  • Reboot Windows, 

3. Install P52's Elan Touchpad Firmware 

  • I'm re-uploaded 2 versions of Elan Touchpad Firmware for who want to need it.

          -  Elan Touchpad Firmware - v1.0.0.4 - Nov-2018 - n20g901w   ==> If your both touchpad and trackpoint are still working, please don't use it.

          -  Elan Touchpad Firmware - v02 - 26-Feb-2019 - n2cgy03w 

NOTES BEFORE FIRMWARE UPDATE

- Please install Elan UltraNav driver.
- Please make sure your computer is plugged in to AC power.
- Please do not touch TrackPoint/Trackpad while firmware is reflashing. <<== Very Important, please note that !
- Please do not Shutdown, Restart, Hibernate, or Sleep the computer while firmware is reflashing.
- Please do not close the lid while firmware is reflashing.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
  the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
  Version Information section.

Manual Install

  This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

  Downloading file
  1. Select the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows
     will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, select Save.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to, and select Save.
     A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete.
     Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating
     that the download completed successfully.

  Extracting file
  5. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
  6. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
  7. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click/double-tap it.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  9. In the Select Destination Location window, select Next. If you would like
     to select a different folder, select Browse.
 10. In the Ready to Install window, select Install. All the necessary files
     will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.

  Installing files
 11. Make sure the checkbox next to "Install ..... now" is checked and select
     Finish.
 12. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and then
     the system automatically shutdown.

Other manual installation method 

1. Go to the path where downloaded package file has been extracted (from above step 9)
	Default Location: C:\Drivers\WIN\TouchpadFW\n2gcy03w\
2. Double click to run FWUpdate.exe
3. Click Next button to begin and follow instruction on screen
4. Wait for progress bar becomes 100%. 
5. After reflash completes, shutdown or reboot the system 
  •  After install finished, REBOOT your laptop and check your both touchpad and trackpoint are working ?

If you still have error, please post here for some Lenovo's Engineers support that.

I have new Lenovo P52,   i can’t use trackpoint. It only move go up or go down but not go left of go right when I remove the red knot, if I use knot, it will move go left when I go right. 

 

  • Platform : Latptop Thinkpad P52
  • System machine type and model number : P52 (Type 20M9, 20MA) 
  • Full hardware configuration: I7 , 8  GB RAM, 250 SSD
  • Operating system used: Win10 64-bit
  • BIOS version : 1.12  
  • Window version: 1803

I don't know the reason it is mistake that window program update or keyboard broken???

Please help me.!!!

Hi LaniTran,

 

This behavior is strange because the rubber of TrackPoint is just a "hat" of it and does not have a role of moving direction. The parts under rubber is the joint styk which transfers your finger direction moving to device and make the cursor moving. If you face this weird behavior, I think it is some broken parts of the device (TrackPoint or Keyboard etc.). You can contact the repair center to check your machine.
