Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

Some official Lenovo drivers cease to install on official Lenovo hardware (W520 / Win 7)

Driver 1:

Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, 11bgn, 11ac) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad ...

Version: 16.6.0.8/15.10.4.2/15.9.1.2

http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/grw208ww_64.exe

http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/grw208ww.txt

Missing device: Ultimate 6300 Wireless card

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4238&SUBSYS_11118086&REV_3E

Driver 2:

Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad

Version: 2.14.18.01

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8ass82ww.exe

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8ass82ww.txt

Missing device: Ricoh card reader in W520
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822&SUBSYS_21CF17AA&REV_08

Please fix them, both are official drivers downloaded from Lenovo, and they are so broken that the devids are totally missing!

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

The card reader is broken because of a bug, which changes the device id from 823 to 822 when rebooting from linux. If you shut down and power up, the bug is not present.

Still, for reference here is the correct INF for the card reader, which supports both 823 and 822 ids:

[Ricoh]
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E823

[Ricoh.ntamd64]
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst.ntamd64,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst.ntamd64,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E823

For the wireless driver, I've opened a separate topic here:

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

well, I have a W520 and some time ago the Ricoh Card Reader was working, but now it doesn't. Windows device manager says it cannot install driver for Base System Device, Lenovo driver's page doesn't even provide an updated driver for my system and pc (Win 8.1 x64). Providing other drivers (the latest is 2.22.18.01 from 12 Oct 2012) doesn't work, editing risdxc.inf b yadding the info above doesn't work (error message: The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalogue file...)

I would realy appreaciate if the RICOH SDXC/MMC(Multi Media Card) driver was updated and made available for Win 8.1 x64 asap

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

Try shutting down (totally!) and starting it up again. This Ricoh reader has this Linux ID bug.

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

Restarting doesn't help. I don't understand "Linux ID bug", but it's true, I have Linux installed on a separate partition as well besides Win

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

Shut down and start it up. Don't restart.

Linux modifies the device id of the card reader. A power cycle fixes it.

Re: Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

Ok, thanks. Sorry it was not clear what was meant by shutting down totally. It indeed solved the problem.
