P40 Yoga - Screen turns on/off, flickers and moves around

2017-07-30, 20:29 PM

I have received the product a month ago and I experience the following issue daily:

The screen starts to turn on and off, flickers and the image moves and looks like a split screen.

Today I could capture a video of this behavior - the video has an intro where you just see Netflix - at sec 29 you see the switching off/on the first time, then again clearly at sec 48-50 (moving image on the left-hand side looking like a split screen)

I don't know how to reproduce this issue. This is what I have observed:

- today it has occurred after taking the device out of sleep mode with the chrome browser open, laptop not plugged to power.

- The other day the issue started while holding down the right mouse key, the flickering made it impossible to use the device.

- other days the issue just occurs randomly and disappears randomly

Normally not even a hard reset will help (but today it seemed to help)

Does anyone know what this could be?

All the latest updates are installed. Windows 64-bit professional

Thank you,

Martina

Hello Martina, welcome to the Community,

one of our engineers has asked if you could disable Panel Self-Refresh in the Intel Graphics Settings / Power reached through Control Panel and please let us know if the issue pervails or not after doing so.

Thanks in advance

Dear Andy,

I have just now adjusted the settings as suggested.

To add some important  information to the issue above:
I have not experienced this issue as mentioned since the laptop is plugged to the power cable all the time.

Thank you for your help!

Martina

Thank you and your team for the fast help and your solution

As an input: you might want to add to your answer how to access these Intel Graphics Settings for other not so experienced users who have the same issue.

The original poster's issue was not solved.  The problem came back.

I also have this issue.  Off battery at some point the screen will flicker and shift around.

Also my mute button will turn on while the flicker happens.
