Hi, I realized that my usb 3.0 external WD hard drive gets disconnected upon an attempt to transfer files into or out of it. Tried connecting a usb 2.0 external WD hard drive and it worked with no issue. Worst off, the 3.0 drive was unable to be detected by the computer although it is rotating with its light indicator ON.
I have tried various power management adjustment based on a google search. But the problem still persists. Any advise?

I think maybe something wrong with USB port's power. you can try Independent power supply with external HDD.
I mean let USB only transfer data. external HDD's power supply from other cable.
Another possibility, incompatible

There is no certainty.
Other devices can work normally? such as USB mouse, USB flash memory etc.
In addition, u can into WinPE environment, then watching dose your WD hard disk work normally.

I tried my friend's external drive of the same model. It is the same. Likewise, I realized the usb 3.0 port nearest to me on my P50 is only able to power up the drive but not reading it. The other 3 ports worked fine.

What BIOS version is your system running?
The most recent BIOS, v1.26/ N1EET52W, can be downloaded here:
