P50 - turn-off hyperthreading

2016-05-03, 13:32 PM

Is it possible to turn-off hyperthreading? I want to dedicate at least one core to single threaded task.

Yes, it can be disabled in the BIOS.
Config -> CPU -> Intel (R) Hyper-Threading Technology

have you tried this on P50? Some othee machines, though they do allow entering and adjusting a few parameters in BIOS, do not allow access to hyperthreading option. Thanks!

Yes, I tried it. After changing the setting to 'disabled', the operating system (Linux) showed only 4 CPUs instead of 8.
