P51s with 2 drives: 4TB SATA & 2TB m.2?

I ordered a P51s today, assuming it would take 2 drives:

- 4TB Samsung 850 EVO in the SATA slot, and

- 2TB Samsung 960 EVO in the M.2 slot.

for 6TB total.  I've read & re-read what's online since then, and it's ambiguous.

Will this work?

Thanks - ResearcherQ

Background: I have a bunch of quad-core W530's now, which hold 4TB Sata + 1TB mSata.  But the 170W power supply won't "plug in" for long international flights (so no quad) + wanted 4K display.

Backup question: will a T470s take 4TB Sata + 2TB M.2 (I know, only WQHD display)?

Re: P51s with 2 drives: 4TB SATA & 2TB m.2?

Downloaded the P51s hardware maintenance manual.

It looks like:

- in the "big drive" I can put a 4TB SATA3 SSD *or* a 2TB M.2 SSD, but not both.

- in the WWAN M.2 slot, I could put a "small" M.2 SSD.  It looks like a 2242 M.2; the largest 2242 I know of is 512GB, which is far too small.

What's the biggest (compatible) M.2 SSD I can put in the WWAN M.2 slot?  (Lots of complaints out there about various brands that don't seem to work.)

BTW, same hardware manual PDF for T570 and P51s.

Exactly.

As far as I know, the Transcend MTS400 and the ZTC Armor are the only M.2 2242 SSDs that are available in a 512 GB version. However, the latter seems to be discontinued and I can't comment on the quality of those SSDs.

Well, that's no big surprise. In the end, the P51s is just a T570 with a Quadro GPU.

I am assuming because the "S" model is slightly different from the regular P51 that a P51 without the "S" designation wont have this issue??

Re: P51s with 2 drives: 4TB SATA & 2TB m.2?

Just wish to chip in regarding stability issue, I used M.2 Transcend MTS400 256GB on Lenovo E440 for about one and half years. No BSoD occurred as stated on Amazon review(s). In fact, no issue whatsoever.

Using: P51/i7/64GB/FHD, X230/i5/16GB/WXGA, M58p/Core2Duo/2GB, Q190/i3/4GB, Q190/Celeron/4GB. Gone: S110/Celeron/2GB/WSVGA, W510/i7/16GB/FHD, W520/i7/32GB/FHD, W530/i7/32GB/FHD, P50/i7/64GB/FHD, E330/i3/8GB/WXGA, E440/i5/8GB/WXGA, E440/i5/16GB/WXGA, E460/i5/16GB/FHD, Yoga2 10/Atom/2GB/WUXGA.

Re: P51s with 2 drives: 4TB SATA & 2TB m.2?

P51 that is - not the P51s and I still have the wwan port free, as well as the additional 2.5" bay for a 7mm
