P52 - Replace SSD and RAM

So I'm looking to configure a P52 with the cheapest RAM and HD, similar to what I did with the W541 four years ago in the following thread.

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/W541-Replace-SSD-and-RAM/td-p/2029346

This time around, I'm not going to go with the 4K screen, and just go with the HD screen. With the W541 today, it flickers like crazy when on battery and you get to around 60% left.

I'm thinking of configuring the P52 with the following.

  • 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8850H 6 core processor with vPro™ (2.60GHz, up to 4.30GHz with Turbo Boost Technology, 9MB Cache)
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • 15.6” FHD (1920 x 1080, 300nits) IPS anti-glare, 72% color gamut
  • NVIDIA Quadro P2000 4GB (middle of the line card)
  • Dirt RAM/HD

I'll probably go with Samgung SSDs. I have the 840/850 pro today in the W541 and they work great. Can anyone recommend what RAM I should look for? In the old W541 thread, someone mentioned to look for a certain voltage. Not sure if I should do the same here.

Thanks!

Re: P52 - Replace SSD and RAM

PS - There are 4 memory module slots in the P52, correct?

Re: P52 - Replace SSD and RAM

Ok, I got my hands on a service manual. Seems like there are 2 slots under keyboard, and then two more under bottom.
