P52 for Music Production (DPC Latency)

Hi,

 

I'm planning on buying a P52 and use it for music production.

To achieve low latency audio, I need a laptop that has a pretty low DPC Latency. As for most laptop, this info is almost impossible to find anywhere. I was wondering if an owner of this laptop would be generous enough to test the DPC Latency and post the results.

It's pretty simple, you just have to use a freeware called LatencyMon and run it for a few minutes :

Hi,

 

Thanks for your time.

Can you run the test for a bit longer (Around 10minutes)?

Some of the processes that increase DPC Latency happens at intervals that are longer than a minute so during your test they might have been missed.

 

Can you also post a screenshot of the test?

OK. I ran the test for 10 minutes.

 

- Windows Defender disabled

- Laptop idle (I was not using it)

- Laptop was on A/C power

 

My laptop has the Xeon processor, 32 GB mem, 1 TB SSD, Windows 10 1809

Hi there! I came across this post while searching on Lenovo's and music production. I hope I'm not too late, but I wanna point out that I use a P51 workstation, and I've also run the LatencyMon tool and my results are much more positive.

 

I don't use the P51 for music production but I'm planning too (I use a Macbook for that at the moment). My P51 is equipped with a Core i7 and 16 GB memory, so I find it odd that the P52 gets negative results.

 

Below are the results of my P51 with LatencyMon running for about 30 minutes. Also, I had Windows Defender still running in the background and I was browsing through different websites. I even started Adobe Premiere and opened a project to give the machine some challenge (you will notice that in the log below, and they warn about the application but it didn't affect the results). The power adapter was plugged into the machine.

 

Hope this will help you in your journey of finding a suitable Lenovo for music production. I really think the P51 and P52 are suitable for the job, but I've also heard positive results when using the T-series.

I've been using a P52 for music production since October and had no issues with high dpc latency.
