Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

Well, we're back to an October 30 ship date again. No notice of why the dates keep changing every day or so.

Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

My unit is finally shipping! There must be a Hollywood comedy writer controlling the order status. I received a notice of a "Speed Bump" on Saturday, Oct 5, that the unit was delayed, but that it would ship within the next 30 days. This morning, however, I received notice that the unit had shpped with serial number and tracking information on Oct 6. Since the P53 is shipping from Hefei, China (and not from Shenzhen), I don't expect that it will experience any further delays. Hopefully, I'll receive it by the end of this week. Fingers crossed.

Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

Certainly this is a direct result of fervent praying to the manufacturing gods. Smiley Happy I'll report back after it has been received and my impressions of the OLED panel. I also ordered an active pen to complement the touch screen.

Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

The system arrived yesterday (10/10/19)! It had been built on 9/30/19 according to the label on the shipping box, but shipped on 10/6 so I've no idea why I was receiving different notices about delays. The original SLA was 2-3 weeks and that was certainly met. One thing in my order may have caused an issue was that I specified X-Rite factory calibration of the panel which would have required the system to be turned on for that procedure. Interestingly, the calibrations are stored in the Lenovo cloud and can be retrieved. I discovered that when I switched to using just the discrete NVIDIA graphics (RTX5000), I had to download (through the application) the panel parameters again.

Harris, for the x-rite calibration application, does it allow you to extract the ICM/ICC file for use with a 3rd party monitor CMS such as Agryll/Displaycal?

I also wonder if you can run the tool on a different machine and just obtain the ICC/ICM that way.

Anyways, I'm looking to buy the P53 (not OLED) but it says 4-5 weeks to ship Smiley Indifferent

Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

All of the calibration was done at the factory. The X-rite assistant just applies the .ICM that were previously created. They are also stored in the Lenovo Cloud for retrieval as well. There are no new profiles created. You would need one of the X-Rite calibration packages to work with external monitors.

Sorry I must've misworded the last response.

I'm aware that the assistant app fetches/applies the .ICM profile, but can the .ICM profile for the P53's display be saved locally (ie: to a USB stick for backup).

Or are you stuck to using the X-rite assistant in order to utilize the .ICM profile for the screen?

Because in my workflow, I'm using agryll to manage color profiles. And I prefer not to use the X-rite software JUST for the P53's internal monitor.

Long story short, this is what I plan to do.

1. Run x-rite assistant once

2. Save the P53 .ICM file somewhere

3. Use argyll software to load P53 .ICM alongside the different monitors that I work with.

Sorry for the complicated quesiton and thanks in advance.

Re: P53 with OLED display shipping delay

The .ICM profiles are stored locally as well. You should be able to place them on a USB stick for installation in another context.
