Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

I'm trying to do the factory recovery on my Lenovo. When I start my computer, I press the "thinkvantage" blue button and pressing F11, but the F11 does not work. A message appears telling me to press F1 and go to Setup. I can not access recovery. When I bought my computer had no windows 7 professional CD accompanying the kit. How can I solve the problem? In the folder "my computer" sometimes appears a second partition, which I believe contains files recovery. I need help. Thank you.

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

Hi, Patoso

If you open up go to Control Panel ► Administrative Tools ► Computer Management ► Disk Management, you should be able to see all the partitions of all storage devices on the machine. Check here and see if you find a parition called Recovery or something similar. If you see one, how big is it? If a recovery parition is not visible here, then there is not one on your main drive and you will not be able to reinstall the OS from here.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

Tnks Adam.

In disk management has 2 disks:

Disk 0 --- 1.37GB
Disk1 ---- 298.10GB

In Disk0 has one unnamed partition with 1.37GB

In Disk1 has the following partitions:
System_DRV --- NTFS -- 1.17 GB
Windows7_OS (CSmiley Happy --- NTFS--- 287.15 GB
And other annamed partition with 9.77GB

How do I do to detect the partitions and run the factory recovery?

Thanks.

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

Hi Patoso, welcome to the forums,

other members will correct me if I am wrong, but if my memory serves me rightly the W700 system was discontinued before Windows 7 was released.  This means that if your recovery partition were to work it would contain a recovery for Vista Business or Ultimate.

You could of course then update the installed Vista preload to Windows 7 using a Windows 7 license or, if you have a Windows 7 license, do a clean install of it saving you having to worry about getting the Vista recovery working??

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

Thanks Andy, but you're mistaken.

I bought my Lenovo W700ds new in box and it already came with Windows 7 professional and your license. I got the computer in February 2010 on the lenovo outlet. It was around the same time that the W700ds has been discontinued and reached the new W701ds.

thank you very much

Thanks for the correction, I should have done a little more homework Smiley Happy

Edit;, have you tried to create a set of recovery discs??  They could then be used to recover the complete system including the service partition.

Yes I tried, but when he asks me to put the CD / DVD, the system does not recognize and will not appear on the screen for me to select

I've also experienced that, it could be that power manager or Windows is turning it off to save power.  The solution is to change these settings in power manager advanced settings or, what sometimes works, open and then close the disc drive and it should find it after a few seconds.

edit; grammar

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

Note, this error happens when I try to create the disc. I'll check the power manage.

The partition with the name System_DRV 1.17 GB is the recovery partition? has a way of making the system show that partition on "my computer"?

Thanks

Re: Problem factory recovery in Lenovo W700ds (2757)

I'm thinking the recovery partition is this one "And other annamed partition with 9.77GB"  the 1.17GB partition is too small to be a recovery partition and as you have described it, it looks as though it's almost a physically different drive???
