Recommended battery threshold for P50/70?

2016-08-11, 21:05 PM

Currently, I have 85-95% charging and stop charging thresholds set up. But I think there might be some optimal setting to maximize the battery life. In the mean time, the total battery time is too short if I set the stop charging value too low. What do you use or any recommendations on the setting? Thanks.

TPs own: X31 (2003), X61T, X200T, Tablet 2, P50 (2016); Win XP-10, Ubuntu8.04-16.04.

I use 80%. I had a Sony VAIO that had two officially recommended settings - 50% for no degradation at all over the life of the laptop, and 80% for minimal degradation. I used that machine exclusively for 3 years and it lost basically no capacity over that time (maybe 2 or so watt hours from what I remember), using 80%. I still have it, actually; the battery is still fine.

Laptop batteries are basically all the same technology, so what worked on that machine should work on a P50. So I keep mine at 80%.
