Reset Lenovo Vantage

2019-07-04, 16:42 PM

Have been using Lenovo Vantage on my P50 for some time and it seems that it cannot figure some that there are some newer drivers that need to be installed.

Had to install some drivers manually, after downloading them from Lenovo website.

Am wondering what would be tips and tricks to reset Lenovo Vantage.

If it needs to be uninstalled and installed what should I keep in mind, any gotchas?

Thanks,

Unless it is a serious bug-fix or security problem, there is always a lag between the time a driver gets posted on the download site for manual install, and when it is selected for install by Vantage.

Its not the delay.

To give an example, it just wouldn't display newer Nvidia drivers even a few months after they came out. I installed manually and now Vantage shows older version and Device Manager shows newer version.

Has happened with a couple of other drivers as well.

Hence started to look into wiping out everything and starting afresh with Vantage, hopefully wiping the repository that it uses to store downloaded driver versions

For some drivers, they may not be compatible with system update or Vantage system update.

And need time to fix driver issue or time to build system update package

Am afraid I didn't understand what you're trying to convey here.

My graphics drivers never appear under Lenovo Vantage even months after they were released.

Hence was wondering if there is a way to clean Vantage repository either after uninstall or without it and go from there

Hi nkaufman,

Could you give the package name that it would not appear in Vantage System update?

I will ask internally why it does not appear.

No graphics drivers -Nvidia - have appeared in the past couple of years,

I've been installing them manually months after they were released

But anyhow, you seem to be missing the main question.

After uninstalling Vantage, what other steps can one take to really clean the repository so that the next install of Vantage can build the repository properly.

BTW, how does it build the list of drivers currently installed in the system when first installed?

Vantage uses WMI to query currently installed driver versions.  You do not need to do anything to "clean the repository".  There may be some bug with detecting specific update(s) which is why hzfdbd asked you to name a specific update which is not being detected.  It would also be helpful if you can zip up your logs folder and attach it here, we can check if there is some problem in the logs.   Thanks.
