I have a W530, and one problem that has nagged me the entire time is that when I scroll either via a mouse wheel, or on the trackpad, it stutters. Scolling is very slow to get started, it jumps a tiny bit at first, then freezes for a bit, and then scrolls as it should. If I scroll up then down, or right to left, whatever I am scrolling essentially is frozen in place.
I have exhausted all reasonable troubleshooting... clean re-install of Windows 8, tried various different video driver versions, with and without manufacturer provided mouse drivers, different mice, with nVidia Optimus on/off, using only the dedicated GPU, using only the integrated GPU. Nothing makes a difference.
The only element left to consider seems to be the hardware, unless someone has a better idea.

Have you tried disabling Smooth Scrolling?
