Whenever I plug in the supplied USB-C AC adapter to charge the laptop I get a black screen flicker for about a second. Is there a way to prevent this? It's not a really big deal its just something that never happened on previous ThinkPad models I've owned (T570, T460s)

My WAG: your power profiles are set up to use different refresh rates on AC and battery. It takes the monitor a second to accomodate. You could try fiddling those settings if it's bothersome.
Can't even guess as to the fan issue. Does Task Manager show a particular process chewing up CPU?

Thank you for your tip.
For the fan issue, just when I'm typing this, I open the Lenovo Vantage app, the cpu load is just under 10%, but the fan is spinning very fast..
I'll try to contact lenovo this weekend...
