Please see the picture below. This error happens randomly when I close my lid, and/or move my laptop fast from one place to the other. I get either the error screen below or a blank screen. Both the error screen below and blank screen require me to hold the power button down and reboot my W530.
Has anyone ever experienced this error? What is the cause of this issue? Does anyone know of a fix that won't void my warrantee?

Looks like a loose/damaged connection between the display and the laptop. no way to fix it without opening the laptop. Which warranty do you have? if you have the on-site, they send a tech or parts out to fix it.

I have a 3-year warrantee where they can send someone out to your house and do repairs.
I just wanted to know if I was the only one dealing with this issue. If by chance there is a simple fix, then I wouldn't have to have someone come to my house.
Based on your diagnosis, it looks like I'll have to have someone come to my house and administer repairs.

based on my experiences with working on machines, it doesn't look like a simple fix.

I'm having the exact same problem with my one month old W530 (from the beginning). I didn't know that the blank screen problem was associated with the horizontal colored lines problem until I found your posting. (I thought it was a Power Mangement problem.)
I've had two on-site service calls, one replaced the mother board and the other replaced the screen. Neither helped a wit. During the second service call the failure happened righ in front of the technicians. Did not trigger anything from them, though.
I am currently going through the process of having Lenovo sent me a replacement for this lemon.
If I were going to to take further steps to fix it, the next thing I would try is to replace the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard. The second service call actually intended to do that as well, but they brought the wrong cable.

BRO!!! I've had two service calls as well!
HOPEFULLY, the combination of the screen, cable, and motherboard replacement works!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS NOTEBOOK IS WAAAYYYYY TO AWESOME FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING!!!! I hope I won't have to get a replacement sent in the mail.

I'm confused. When were these two service calls done? Were they both so recent that you are not yet sure whether they fixed the problem? I would think that the first (screen and cable replacement) failed to fix it for you to request another (mother board replacement).

Both on-site service calls happened within the last month. The screen and cable replacement failed. This is what prompted the 2nd on-site service call, in which the motherboard was replaced.
So far, the rainbow and/or blank screen issue hasn't occurred.
I'm not sure if this is a permanent fix, because of the random frequency with which this blank screen/weird colorful screen presents itself.
