I'm in the process of installing Win 8.1 Pro onto my W520 4270-CTO and I don't see ThinkVantage Power Manager for Win 8.1 for it. I tried the Win 7 version, but it won't install.
Did Lenovo just drop support for the W520 in this respect? Or am I visually impaired?

Welcome to Lenovo Community!
ThinkVantage Power Manager is available only till Windows 7 OS, you won’t get Power Manager for Windows 8 and above, instead of that you can install Lenovo power management application.
To update the drivers and application for your system use ThinkVantage System Update utility.

Thank you for your response.
Yes, I used the System Update Util; however it was missing a number of apps I've been used to being available for ThinkPads for many, many years. I didn't realize until later that Lenovo has taken it upon themselves to drop these apps and push users towards a crappy Metro app (Lenovo Settings) with a tenth the features. i.e. in power settings there isn't an option to control the charging of the battery so that the charging takes place in such a way as to not decrease the lifetime of the battery. I wonder why they'd do is....Oh, wait, not I don't. They wants us to eat up our batteries as fast as possible to increase their revenue stream. Lenovo's attitude towards its users is going to drive away longtime ThinkPad fans such as myself. I wonder if HP's EliteBooks are as good as they use to be. Back in the day they were the only thing comparable to ThinkPads.

The Dependency Package is a set of prerequisite services/drivers that are needed to use the upcoming Metro app called "Lenovo Settings" this app is only for the system which runs with Windows 8 and 8.1 OS.
From Lenovo Settings you'll be able to adjust power, location, camera, audio, etc settings that are specific to your Lenovo ThinkPad systems.
Hope this helps.
