Thinkpad P50 Adapter Issues

So, to start with, my original power cable went bad on me.  I'm 99% sure the issue in question was the power cable from the adapter to my laptop (it was acting normally when that was positioned in exactly the right position; otherwise, it wasn't charging or wasn't transmitting power).  I went to Best Buy and picked up an Insignia (Best Buy house brand as far as I can tell) 90W AC Adapter.  It seems to rate at 19V/4.74A.

Well, lo and behold my computer is "refusing" to charge while active.  It seems to charge just fine when it is asleep or otherwise out-of-service but it won't charge when it is active (regardless of what power settings, etc. I'm using; yes, I tried to muck about).

Is this a bad unit?  Is it a bad model of adapter?  Or is this just Lenovo's software being a passive aggressive pain?

Re: Thinkpad P50 Adapter Issues

The ThinkPad P50 requires a minimum of 135 Watts to charge, so you'll need a higher-wattage charger.  If your system is still under warranty, I'd suggest contacting Lenovo support to see what they can do about the original power adapter not working.
