I just took a look through the parts lists and the FRU number for the P53 2.5" HD cable is 02DM546 listed under "cables internal"
The options team have been made aware of the points made in this discussion and will be looking into potential resolutions. At this stage I have no further details nor time line and am therefore unable to offer any expectations for that resolution.

Most parts eventually show up for sale online. If this is a newly-announced part, it make take some time for inventory to arrive in the channel.

I'm interested in this part as well. I'd like to reuse an SSD I had in the W541.
I can find the part online with pictures via link below, but I can't order it? Maybe I should just order an M.2 drive.

If you have a P53 with an RTX graphics card, you do not have the option of installing a 2.5"drive.

What are the chances something like this is compatible:
I'm not even sure what the right cable could should look like, let alone whether it's safe to try out

I got tired of trying to find the part number of a storage kit to order for a P53 and did not want to order something I was not sure would work. I needed my laptop asap so, I ordered a laptop with a 1TB disk drive install at the factory. Here is a series of pictures I took that shows the installation of the drive. The last picture shows you the label on the cable.
Hope this could help anyone with the question of what is needed to install a HDD in a P53.
