Thinkpad W541 no fails POST

My Thinkpad no longer boots up properly as of today. The monitor refuses to come on even though the power light is indeed on. It's really a disgrace because I've only had this computer since February or March. It's also disappointing. I have a lot of work that needs to get done today. Thanks!

Re: Thinkpad W541 no fails POST

Hi pulloSagata,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

Try to check with AC adapter by removing the battery and alternatively check with only battery by discharging the AC adapter. If there is no result found request you to check with the external monitor if you have one. If not please let me know whether the system is going into BIOS or safe mode.

Please let me know about the required steps at the earliest for further assistance.

Thank you, have a good day.

Regards,

Naveen.v

Re: Thinkpad W541 no fails POST

I did all the things you described. The issue was that the PC was not feeding output to the monitor, so I was able to see nothing.

I sort of resolved the issue. By pressing the "sun-like" icon on the monitor (which I assume increases the brightness of hte screen. After some time the monitor came on and boot up was successful.

However, within the last 2 days, bootup (screen coming on) has been delayed. I don't know what the issue is. I have searched for viruses with my Virus suite and have found none. I hope that this isn't a bad omen. It's a bit discouraging if this relatively new less than a year old flagship laptop is dying.

At least please tell me that is not the case. The Laptop used to bootup almost instantly, now I have to wait about 15 to 30 secounds before I see output to the screen. (It's quite nonsensical and laughable).

Simply put, for your premier laptop, this should not be happening.
